Dusting off the Cobwebs

Surprise!  Long time, no blog. I am not sure what happened but in January I seriously lost my motivation to write and as a result, the blog was shelved again. And the next thing I knew, eight months went by.

2021 has been an interesting year so far. It hasn’t been bad, but a lot has been happening. Lately I am feeling the pull to write things down again. I decided to dust off the old blog and see what happens. There is so much I want to share:

The end of distance learning and some parting thoughts on that and looking ahead to this school year.

The saga of our bee hives and where we’re at with our beekeeping journey.

Updates on Oliver and life with a 7 1/2 year old.

Where we’re at with the whole moving thing. Spoiler alert, it’s not quite where we thought we’d be, but things are still moving forward.

A journey I’ve been taking on discovering my spiritual side and the energies around me and really learning more about myself and what makes me, me.

An update on my word of the year “Rise”.

Thoughts on being vaccinated and returning to “normal” life along with fears of what lies ahead with variants and my complete lack of faith in society.

Learning to enjoy cooking through using Hello Fresh meals.

Other hobbies I’ve picked up on since the start of the pandemic.

Reviews of books I’ve read this year.

Our first vacation in nearly two years up to Itasca State Park.

Other musings on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Ok, maybe not so much on that last one, but there is so much more I could share. Maybe it will all make it here maybe not. Maybe I’ll hit publish today and then get too lazy to follow up and come back to write about all of the above. Maybe I’ll write a couple of posts and then it will take another six months before I write another one. I honestly don’t know.

What I do know is anything I write I’m writing for me. I’m not going to follow a schedule any longer. I said this the last time I tried to return to blogging as well, but I really mean it. I’m not doing theme posts, I’m not following the “blogging rules.” I’m pretty much just here to have a place to document stuff again. I post to Instagram every day and there is only so much you can share in those little squares. And I don’t really feel Facebook is the appropriate audience for my musings on life either. So, back to the blog it is.

We’ll see where this goes!

  1. Hello Beth, welcome back. I was happy to see a blog post pop up in my Feedly.
I think your approach is perfect: just write when you feel like it and have something to share. There is no pressure, no blogging schedule to be on. Just do it the “old school way”… I’ll come along for the ride 😉

Very curious about a moving update, the hobbies you’ve picked up and your thoughts on the current Covid situation!

  2. Good to see you again!

It’s not surprising that the second stage of a global pandemic affected your blogging. It’d be a surprise if it didn’t. I applaud your (wise) decision to focus future writing on your own interests and not treat blogging as a chore or job. When we do it for the right reason in the right way, we do it better, more often and with greater satisfaction. It’s YOUR blog!

  3. Welcome back!! I always enjoy reading your posts. And your blog should always be what you want it to be!! Love you!

  4. Welcome back, Beth! I think it’s great that you want to blog again and seriously – no rules is nice. Just write what you want, when you want, however you want. I do think blogging is a great outlet sometimes. 🙂

  5. So happy to see your post! And can’t wait to catch up on at least some of the goings-on with you and your family. I agree – blog the way you want, when you want, on the topics you want to write about. Who cares what other people think? Those of us who want to read your blog will still be here!
