Another Return and Some Changes
I’m back again! I decided to simplify the look of the old blog here and try once again to return to writing. I really do miss it sometimes. I think taking a break the majority of the year did me a lot of good though too. I needed to step back and listen. Listen to the world around me and listen to what the universe was trying to tell me. I have learned a great deal this year and I want to get those lessons in writing, so my hope is to share some of that in the coming weeks.
There are changes on the horizon in my personal life, I alluded to this in a post a couple of months ago, but the long story short is, we may be moving in the next year and that’s going to shake up my world a lot. Writing here will help keep me grounded. At least I hope that it will. We won’t be going far away, but it will still be pretty significant. I’ll have much more to come on this soon hopefully.
As for any other updates, life is still as status quo as it can be during this pandemic. I’m back to working from home again as the numbers were spiking in Minnesota pre-Thanksgiving. Ollie’s still doing school at home and Nate’s still working at home too. We’re still just taking it one day at a time.
Oliver turned 7! I can’t believe I missed the annual birthday post I like to do for him, but I just wasn’t quite ready to jump back into writing that week. We celebrated with a Zoom birthday party with his grandparents and aunt and uncle and he was pretty much in seventh heaven. He still loves Zoom even though the rest of us are having extreme Zoom fatigue. I was so worried I didn’t make his birthday special enough but at the end of the day he said it was the best birthday ever. Such a good reminder that sometimes less is more.
Less is more is kind of the theme for our holidays this year. I love Christmas, it’s my favorite holiday, but we’re taking a scaled back approach this year thanks to Covid restrictions and things of that nature. It makes me a little sad, but it’s necessary. We’ll enjoy a cozy little Christmas at home and it will still be festive and fun. I have a running joke with some friends about things still being “F-ing holly jolly dang it” so pour me another drink and let’s do this. Now if I could just finish my shopping….
So here we are. Continuing that one day at a time mantra and in the words of Willy Wonka that I love “good, then, on we go.”
