Goals and Mantras for April

First Monday of the month and it’s time for goals and mantras. I’m cutting myself all the slack for any unfinished goals for March because, hello pandemic. I have decided to go forward with goal setting for April because just because we’re stuck at home doesn’t mean we can’t get some stuff accomplished. First though I’ll still take a look at what did/did not happen in March.

March Goals

Get out for a walk anytime the weather is nice – thanks to not being able to do a whole lot else, this is a yes! We have been walking anytime we can.

Read three books – Nope. When things got real I just couldn’t get into any of the books I have right now. My brain just needed something mindless instead, so I’ve been playing Animal Crossing instead of reading. So it goes.

Go through Ollie’s clothes and toys – nope, but with all that’s going on I’m not sure when I’ll have my garage sale right now, so that’s probably ok.

Go through my spring and summer clothes – Yes! I swapped in my spring and summer clothes and put away my winter ones.

Get the taxes done – Not yet but since they extended the deadlines we kind of figure that’s ok.

Go on some kind of fun date night with Nate – Sadly no. I have some fun ideas for some date nights at home though so I think we’ll make that a priority this month.

Go on a fun family outing – Unfortunately no on this one too. We did get out for one more fun dinner as a family at the beginning of the month though and we’ve been making Saturdays into a dinner and a movie night at home. If the weather gets warmer we’ll start disc golfing.
Honestly I think I did pretty good all things considered! Now I’m looking ahead to April and what I’m hoping we accomplish.

April Goals

Get our bee hives set up and the bees into their new home

Get Ollie’s Easter basket ready

Start cleaning up the yard

Figure out the garden for the year

Get creative on an at home date experience for Nate and I

That’s it. I think that is PLENTY for right now. And if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. We’re all just doing the best we can right now. My mantra for the month is simple. I’m taking a cue from my favorite animated fish.

We can do this. Keep swimming everyone!

  1. I also didn’t read as much as I thought I would last month! I’m really surprised but April is a new month and hopefully I make more time to read.

You must be so excited to set up your bee hives. I’m envious of you all going into summer. We had our first really chilly day today and some rain and it feels like winter is getting closer!

Love that mantra for the month. As you say we’re all just doing the best we can right now. Have a great April.

  2. I’m not sure what Animal Crossing is, but I’ve been the same way with reading. I just can’t seem to focus, and have been playing phone games much too often. Switching over my wardrobe to spring clothes is on my list for this month. “Date nights” over here include cooking together (instead of just one or the other), watching movies (yesterday was Yesterday ha!), and playing games- Scrabble, Uno, and Yahtzee have been in heavy rotation lol. Getting the bees and the garden set up sound like fun outdoor activities. Good luck with your goals!

  3. I think those are great goals for April. I hope you share if you come up with a creative stay-in date! We need to plan something beyond dinner or board games here. Nice job going through clothes as well! I need to clean out my closet soon.

  4. Just keep swimming. Definitely a good motto. My main goal for April is to try and be a bit more creative – scrapbook, craft projects, etc. and then get moving more. Without my dance classes, it’s tough to find motivation – I don’t live in a great area when it comes to walking (not dangerous, but nowhere to really go, no sidewalks, etc.)
