What Day is it Again?
What day is it again? Where am I? What time is it? We just got back from visiting our family in St. Louis for a week, plus celebrating Christmas up here and now we’re back to the grind with only two days of the work week and it’s a New Year and I just don’t know if I’m coming or going!
At any rate, I wanted to ease back into blogging, I’ve missed you all and I feel like I haven’t talked to you since last year (hahaha). I hope you all had a great holiday season! We had a nice one, the best gift of all was that Ollie was finally over his flu bug and able to participate in the children’s program at church and still enjoy everything about the holiday. He was so excited that Santa brought him his school bus that he wanted, and he received a bunch of other nice gifts. I was quite spoiled by my boys as well; I’d have to say my favorite gift is the Friends Lego set that I had been coveting! We spent time with both sides of our family which is always such a blessing and we really had a nice time.
The day after Christmas we got up at the crack of dawn, loaded up the car and drove to St. Louis. It was a long drive as always, but I’m glad we drove and had our own car. We saved so much money doing that instead of flying. During our time in St. Louis we were able to spend some nice time with Nate’s grandmother who is doing very well. At almost 94 she still takes care of her own house, plays bridge several times a week, cooks and bakes and is sharp as a tack. I always joke she will likely outlive us all. We also did just a small amount of sightseeing, visiting the Missouri Botanical Gardens (one of my favorite places in the world) and the St. Louis Science Center. Then we celebrated Christmas with our family there and had a blast with an Ugly Sweater party. I even managed a small amount of me time while I was there and snuck out to a couple of thrift shops and scored a couple of nice things!
We stayed until New Years Day and then packed up to head back north. The perk of driving on a holiday was that there were literally no cars on the road. We arrived home to a very snuggly kitty cat and I was proud of myself, I emptied every suitcase and started a load of laundry right away. As for all our Christmas gifts and Christmas decorations, well that’s another story, but we have a weekend coming up for all of that!
It’s nice to travel and see family we don’t get to see very often, but it sure is nice to be home. December was a bit of a rough month of sickness and I’m just ready for life to get back to normal. I’m looking forward to regular blogging again and I’m excited for what’s to come this year. Tomorrow will be a What’s Up Weekend post as always then come back Monday for Goals, Mantras and Currently AND I’ll talk about my word of the year (spoiler alert, if you follow me on Instagram you can find it there). 2020, let’s do this.
