What's Up Weekend

What’s Up Weekend 8.16.19

Happy Friday friends! I’ve never been so happy to see Friday. Ok, let’s be real, I’m always happy to see Friday. I’m just extra happy this week because this was a week I had to work the early shift at work filling in for the Public Works secretary, so this mama is a little tired and ready for some relaxation! Anyhoo, it’s time for for my weekly happy fest with my girls Charlotte and Lindsay, a little something we call What’s Up Weekend. This is where we look back at the week that was and celebrate the things that we are grateful for and made us happy. So let’s dive in to the good stuff. Here’s what made me smile this week.

(1) Seeing Ollie’s joy and love of Vacation Bible School and getting to go to the closing celebration over my lunch hour last Friday. Even if the songs are still stuck in my head a week later.

(2) My awesome husband helping pick up the slack as he always does when I’m on this shift. He dropped Ollie off every morning at my parents and happily played with him and did bedtime routines so I could unwind with  bath each night if I needed to. I know I brag about him a lot but he’s the best and deserves it.

(3) Enjoying a bonfire on a nice evening last weekend. It was a bit buggy because it had rained a bunch last week, but we slapped on some bug spray and went with it. It was so nice sitting out with my person and enjoying our firepit.

(4) Going shopping with my mama at the Rewind Get pretty sale and finding some lovely things. We hadn’t had a chance to do that together in quite awhile and it was so nice. I’m telling you guys, no one knows my style and gets me better than my mom.

(5) My boys making pizzas side by side last weekend. It was amazingly delicious pizza by the way. We added a ton of fresh stuff from our garden. Yum!

(6) Glow is back on Netflix! Good gosh I love that show so much! If you grew up in the 1980s it’s must see TV. Between that and Stranger Things my inner child is so happy this summer!

(7) My boy got his very own library card this week and was so excited about it! My mother in law works part time at our local library so we went down when she was working so she could be the one to give it to him. He promptly checked out ten books. I love my little reader.

(8) Coffee. I know I say it a lot. But it’s been a life saver this week!

(9) My old lady still loving playing in boxes. She cracks me up. Still a spunky girl at almost 14 years old!

(10) In one week from today I will be in my happy place – the Minnesota State Fair!! I can’t believe it’s almost here!

So there you have it! This weekend I plan on relaxing and rewarding myself for surviving a week of early mornings! What’s going on with all of you? Any fun weekend plans? As always, feel free to link up with the ladies and I below and check out the other posts as well. Have a great weekend!

  1. You must be extra ready for the weekend after your early shifts – thank goodness for coffee 🙂
That is great that Ollie enjoys reading – he must be so excited with his new library card!
I don’t know when last I had homemade pizza but now I want some.
Have a wonderful weekend and I’m so glad your happy place is one week away – I always enjoy reading about your State Fair and all the great food.

  2. Oh that is awesome that Ollie got his own library card. I just convinced a friend to get one, so she can get all the eBooks she wants 🙂

Thanks for the reminder: we have to make homemade pizza again STAT.

  3. You know how much I love a good fire, but its been up in the 100’s and doesn’t cool off until way late. Its almost midnight and is still in the low 90s out there. Hopefully we will have a cold winter. I would say fall but here we go from summer to winter. LOL . Ollie is just the cutest! Way to go with the books! I love that he loves to read. And that shot of the guys making pizzas is adorable. Have a relaxing weekend Beth!!

  4. Aww congrats to Ollie on his new library card! It’s a huge rite of passage and I love that he picked up so many books on his first outing! It’s a great place 😊

And yes to homemade pizza. We had four-cheese pizza this week (frozen), but it’s boring for me so I added some fresh tomatoes and basil amd something called “everything but the bagel sesame” seasoning from Trader Joe’s and it really transformed the flavor so much!

Also yay to having a wonderful and supportive husband—it doesn’t get much better than that, to know you have a partner you can count on when you need! Hope you’re having a great weekend, beth! Xoxo

  5. I work at 7.30 in the mornings, so I’m fairly used to it, but man, it does make me tired as the day goes on. That’s great Nate took over things so you could work and relax. Ooh would love a bonfire night! Omg, I love that photo of Ollie and his library card. Such a cutie!

  6. Hey girl,

That’s your momma beside Ollie, isn’t it? That’s cool that he enjoyed bible camp. My mom signed me up as a kid because my babysitter’s daughter was going and oh my god, I don’t know what she was thinking. It’s was so weird and foreign to me. Now, when I go to church, it’s usually for a wedding or a funeral and I’ve no idea what the hell is going on. LOL
Love that picture of Nate and Oliver making pizza. 🙂
Great pic of kitty in a box. I just love love love when cats find the perfect box to call their own. A friend of ours used to have a massive cat and she made home in a small basket and boy did she spill out of it real good but she was just the happiest. 🙂
That bonfire looks so, so cozy. I’ve been chilly in the evenings lately and a fire sounds lovely right about now.

    Love you babes!
