Humpday Confessions

Humpday Confessions 7.17.19

It’s that time again. It’s Wednesday, it’s Humpday and it’s been a few weeks since we last had a Humpday Confessions, so it’s time to hop in that confessional and bare all. Join me, won’t you?

I confess…

~That since we’ve been back from vacation (which was a month ago at this point) my house looks like a bomb went off. I know things got worse because I was sick and Ollie was sick and all of that too, but still. I am seriously considering taking a day off without Ollie and Nate in the house to just tackle the whole thing and get things back in order.

~That I went to a local thrift and vintage shop looking for something for a wedding I’m going to later this month and instead of buying something for the wedding bought that Mermaid t-shirt I shared last week and also a, um, cough, purse, cough. So much for not shopping.

~That I downloaded the FaceApp app because everyone was talking about it yesterday and sharing pictures of the “Old” filter and my future old self is terrifying. And Nate’s is even worse. Will you still feed me when I’m 64?

~That I hate how snaky I get when Instagram goes down, which it did for me for a large chunk of time yesterday. I can’t help it that it’s my favorite app.

~That I’m getting better at loving it but I still struggle some days with my short hair. It’s a work in progress.

~That I kind of feel like I’m going through the motions of summer a bit. It just feels like it’s going so fast and either the weather isn’t cooperating or something else has been getting in the way of being able to enjoy it as much as I’d like. There’s still time to turn it around though and that’s just what I intend to do.

~That I bribed my child with the promise of a toy car and also a pizza picnic in front of the TV if he’d go to the grocery store and get groceries with me last night. He’s very much anti-running errands right now so we do what we have to do.

~That I finished the last puzzle Nate and I were working on without Nate. He was working on building a wood shed for our firewood this weekend and Ollie was playing on his own and I just sat down and worked on it and before I knew it, it was done. Oops.

And that’s what I have today! I know, so scandalous as always. If you have anything you need to get off your chest, hit me in the comments. We’re all friends here!

  1. I love your confessions! Also, I totally feel you on the summer> it’s going by too quickly and I feel as though I haven’t had a chance to really enjoy it at all. My town is putting on their festival days this weekend, and it’s going to feel like 100+ with the humidity! WHAT THE HELL!?!? I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks, but B and I are debating whether or not to go because I can’t imagine we’ll much enjoy a day of being outdoors and schvitzing to death, watching people eat hot dogs and riding bumper cars.

Also that facetime app is terrifying. I keep seeing everyone’s old pics and don’t want to do but probably will because peer pressure ūüôā

Hope you’re having a great week! XO

  2. Perfectly fine to not have a completely clean house, if you ask me. But I get the desire to start over, just get one good deep clean. It’s good for the soul to feel less anxious about it. I did that with my car, and my closet is next!

My confessions would involve Jill Flint and buttered popcorn but not probably in the same confession unless she wanted to watch all the Star Wars movies with me.

  3. I always need a full day of recovery for myself and to clean/unpack after a vacation! And I don’t blame Ollie, I’m anti-running errands in this heat too!

  4. I always feel like after vacations I have the hardest time getting back to my routines and doing basically anything. I have to bribe my kids to stay home because they just want to go. Go anywhere. We could go to the dump or to the gas station and they’d have the time of their lives but I hate leaving the house anymore so… ice cream for breakfast if you don’t ask me to leave today!

  5. I’m shocked. Your house is untidy and you shop too much? Shocked. ūüôā

Seriously we need to cut ourselves slack. Life is hard. Take comfort where you can find it. And don’t fear old age — by the time you get there you’ll realize looks don’t matter any more. What counts is who you are inside.

  6. Sometimes you just have to bribe the kids, you know? ūüėČ I’m with you on summer though. I’m trying to do what I can and enjoy it (though Fall is my favorite season) but the weather has been insane. Lots of rain, and then super hot – there’s a heat advisory this weekend I think. Plus, my pool isn’t working this summer so I’ve barely swam and that’s normally something I do multiple times a week, and it just makes it feel like summer, you know?! I miss it. ūüôĀ
