Currently in January

Hello friends! Happy New Year! I hope for nothing but good things for everyone this year! I have so much to share on the blog from a wrap up of my 2018 word of the year to my 2019 word of the year and my goals for the month and books read and all that jazz, but today I’m going to do my favorite monthly link up, Currently with Anne of In Residence. All of the other stuff will be coming soon! For now, here’s what’s currently happening in my world!

~Currently I Am~

Choosing – Joy. That is not my word for 2019, but it is related to it. I’ve decided it’s more fun to be happy, so might as well find the joy wherever I can!

Tidying – My house. It’s time to take down the Christmas tree and put the other decorations away. Then I need to tackle Ollie’s toy area and get that all reorganized.

Resolving – I dislike resolutions but one thing I am doing is trying to get better about drinking water again, so I’m resolving to drink more water each day. We have a nice water cooler at my new office and we all got reusable water bottles, so it should make it easier to keep up with!

Exploring – Crockpot recipes. I know you’re all moved on to Instant Pot but we’re still slow cookers at our house and we just bought a replacement crockpot for our old one that had a broken knob. So now I want to make all the crockpot meals.

Refreshing – My wardrobe just a little with a few thrifted items. Scored some great deals at Style Encore on New Years Eve!

That’s the latest from here! I’ll be sharing my 2019 word tomorrow so stay tuned for that! I’m pretty excited. There is something about a new year and a feeling of a fresh start. Let’s do this 2019!

  1. I got my holiday decor taken down the other day and while it was really nice to have those things up, it was also nice to take it all down and feel like there’s a little less clutter.

  2. I’m not a big resolutions gal but I do do goals. I think I’ll have them on the blog at some point this week. But I think I made five goals for myself, some easy, some tricky, but I surprisingly did well on my goals last year and I really didn’t think I did anything so that was a nice surprise.

  3. My sister got an InstantPot, but I still have a crockpot so I’m with you on needing to find some new meals to use that more. Winter is kind of the best time for crockpot meals, I believe. Ooh I’m curious about your 2019 word. I shared mine in my post today, but I’ll have more posts this month about goals and whatnot.

  4. I’d love to hear your crock pot ideas if you come across some good ones–we’re still all crock pot over here too. 🙂 And yay for choosing joy–that one IS my word of the year so I’m all for that. I could really work on drinking more water too, that is a great idea.

  5. Happy New Year!
That outfit is lovely and suits you. We took our decorations down on Monday – I really enjoyed our home looking so festive but I like to take everything down before going back to work (back today).
I loved your 2018 OLW and I’m looking forward to reading about this years choice.

  6. Catching up today–I’ve missed you! I made this crockpot recipe last night and seriously it is SO friggin delicious that I can’t wait for leftovers. Didn’t have cilantro but was delicious all the same 🙂

Also there’s a new show on Netflix about tidying up from Marie Kondrum (I think is her name?!) that I just heard about. I have an easier time letting go of stuff, but I’m determined to watch this with Bryan and encourage him to throw some things out. Plus, letting go is so satisfying (just me??).

Hope you’re new year is off to a great start, and thanks for the reminder to drink more water 🙂

  7. I just put away the Christmas decorations last weekend too. I’m still using a crockpot! I actually just got a new programmable one for Christmas that auto-sets to warm when it’s done! I got a cookbook to go with it so I’m definitely looking forward to using it more! The water one is a great resolution. I actually just bought my sister in law and niece these hydration reminders that can slip on to any water bottle and light up to remind you to drink water! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017NK0A3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  8. I’m totally with you, but just in the opposite order – we reorganized/purged in the playroom the day after Christmas (had to find somewhere to put all those new Legos!), and now I’m doing the same thing with the Christmas decor. Feels so good! And yes, I’m on the water train for 2019 too! It really does make me feel better to be drinking enough water, so that’s helpful motivation. Good water bottles don’t hurt either 🙂

  9. Haha, I am still a slow cooker here, too… no instant pot for me. Share some of your favorite slow cooking meals with me!

Love the word you picked for this year. I am not quite there yet, but I’ll share my pick soon.
