Currently, Goals and Mantras for December

It’s the first Wednesday of the month so that means it’s time for the Currently link up with Anne of In Residence. I’m combining again with my goals and mantras for the month as well. This month is all Christmas, all the time. Tis the season to be jolly after all!

~Currently I Am~

Gifting – Before we start gifting our Christmas gifts we had to give some birthday gifts to our new five year old! We gave Ollie a mini-trampoline to have at home since he loves to jump at tumbling class so much. He is obviously in love with it!

Baking – Cookies as always. We’ll be moving on to Christmas cookies this weekend, but we have been making Chocolate Chip cookies about every other week because they’re Ollie’s favorite (and maybe mine too, lol)

Singing – Tons of Christmas carols. Ollie loves Christmas music, both church related and non-church related, so we’ve been singing ALL the Christmas songs. And I love it.

Mailing – We got our Christmas cards finally so I’ll be starting to mail those! I’m really excited for how they turned out this year.

Decorating – All over the house! We put up our penguin and lights outside too. Ollie loves that he is the same size as our penguin, ha! Next year he’ll be taller than the penguin!

Now let’s look at my goals for last month. As you may recall, I tried to keep them simple since my office was moving. It was a very hectic time but I think I did a pretty good job with my goals and keeping my head above water!

November Goals:

~Make sure I’m taking time to relax and renew each day during this crazy stretch  Yes. I made sure I was taking time for myself when I needed it and I think I did pretty well.

~Go out on a birthday outing with Nate  Yes! We went to the movies and to dinner together and it was a lovely evening!

~Plan our Thanksgiving menu Yes! We did kind of a fun “progressive” dinner party feel this year with my in-laws. Since our dishwasher wasn’t fixed yet, we did appetizers and cocktails at our house and dinner and dessert at their house. We had a nice rounded menu and it was a great meal.

~Make a Thanksgiving craft with Ollie I’m not checking this one off, he made some turkeys with my mom, but I just didn’t have a chance to do anything with him this month. Perhaps we’ll do a Christmas craft instead!

~Celebrate 30 Days of Thankfulness  Yes! I did a post on Instagram every day.

~Start planning Ollie’s birthday  Yes. He wanted a very simple party with just his family at the bowling alley. And he wanted donuts. We were happy to oblige!

~Order our Christmas cards Done! As you can see above they’ve arrived and now I’m in the process of mailing them out!

~Make an appointment for Ollie’s yearly physical and his flu shot  Done! We got the flu shot last week. Couldn’t get in for his five year well check until January 4th, but it is at least scheduled!

Now we’re on to December. Again I’m keeping my goals simple this month, I love Christmas but it can get to be crazy too. So I don’t want to get too stressed out or set myself up for failure or anything!

December Goals:

~See lots of Christmas light displays

~Bake Christmas cookies

~Watch A Charlie Brown Christmas with Ollie

~Go on a holiday date with Nate

~Finish Christmas shopping

~Wrap presents

~Get back on track with reading

That’s it. Short and simple and pretty much all holiday related! I have a good start on my Christmas shopping, so I think finishing isn’t going to be too bad. At least I hope not! My mantras for the month are based on my “theme” I chose for Christmas this year. I’ve been using Merry and Bright as our family theme this year. I don’t know why, but I like it.

Happy December!!

  1. Awww I loved reading this and that it has such a holiday focus 🙂 It must have been so sweet to watch Ollie’s reaction to the trampoline. I saw on Instagram and I just wanted to squish his cheeks <3 you’re right to keep the list short and sweet. This time of year is so dang hectic, and I’m all about the small, bite-sized and manageable goals 🙂 hope you have a great December! Xo

  2. Great job on you November goals. And that’s so cute you got Ollie a mini trampoline. I’m sure he DOES love it. And your holiday cards are adorable. 🙂

I think it’s good that your December goals are mostly holiday related, since adding even MORE to all the holiday things would be way too stressful for most. hah I do hope to check off a lot of fun holiday events this month. I’m slowly but surely making my way through my Christmas list. I’m usually way more ahead, but oh well…at least I enjoy shopping for others! haha

  3. The mini trampoline is SUCH a good gift idea for this age! Hendrik loves doing that at tumbling too. And I love your Christmas cards – such a cheery design! Enjoy the season 🙂

  4. I love your December goals. I have many of the same ones–all holiday related, yay! Happy 5th birthday to Ollie!! That trampoline is a great idea. I had one of those as a kid and loved it!!

  5. Great job on your November goals! I have been devouring so many Christmas and holiday treats lol. I have also been wanting to bake a lot of stuff. I love your goals for December. I recorded A Charlie Brown Christmas and I’m hoping to watch it this weekend.
