Date Night at Topgolf

Nate and I went out on a super fun and unique date night this weekend. Topgolf just opened in the Twin Cities. Nate had gone to one when he was in Portland for work and he was so excited that they were opening a location here and couldn’t wait to bring me. Once we went, I could see why!

Topgolf is a unique golfing experience that is sort of like driving range meets bowling alley. You are assigned to a bay where you golf from and you can play lots of different games that involve hitting the various targets. Even the most inexperienced golfer can play. You’re hitting the ball from up above so gravity helps quite a bit! They provide you with all the clubs you need, but you are welcome to bring your own if you wish. You can order food and drinks to enjoy while you play. All of the bays are heated also so even though you’re outside, you won’t be cold.

So, as I said, Nate and I went this past Saturday. It was definitely busy, if you’re going to go on a weekend, pack your patience. We got there at 5:30 and had to wait almost two hours for a bay to open up. Thankfully there is an area you can go and order food and drinks and sit down, so that’s what we did. We had an overnight babysitter so we weren’t in any hurry. It was worth the wait in my opinion. It’s a lot of fun playing the various games. First we played one where you go in order of trying to hit the closest targets and then the ones that are further away. Then we played another game where you got points for hitting any target. I am proud to say I beat Nate twice!

The food we ate was also pretty tasty. We had some pulled pork sliders that were quite delicious. We also had their grilled chicken wings while we were waiting for the bay to open up and I highly recommend them, the spicing on them was super tasty. And they had one of our favorite beers on tap, so we were in pretty good shape that way!

Overall it was a really fun experience. I hadn’t swung a club in about five years but that didn’t really matter! They are kid friendly too, so we could possibly bring Ollie sometime, though I’d likely choose to do it for more of a daytime thing on the weekend. I’d go back for a date night again too. We had fun just the two of us, but we’d love to go with more people sometime, you can have up to six people in a bay. It’s nice to have another place to throw into the mix for something to go out and do. I can’t wait to go back!

Link because I love, Topgolf is not sponsoring this post.

  1. Sounds like a fun place for date night. Bummer about the wait, but that’s good you can get food and drinks while you hang around – makes time go quicker, I’m sure. I like that the bay is heated too so you aren’t getting cold. Fun!!

  2. I saw this when we were driving through some city and I was like, “What a dumb idea” but now I kind of want to go! I see them on Groupon all them time when I look for stuff to do the Cities!

  3. That sounds like so much fun! Aaron is a big golfer, but not me at all–yet this seems like somewhere we would both have fun. We have one here but I’ve never been. I think that may just have to be our next date night!

  4. This sounds like such a fun date night! I’m not sure if we have one of those here, but now I’m going to have to check. It’s hard to find something that both me and my husband would enjoy…besides eating and drinking…so, I think this would be awesome!
