October Goals and Mantas

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers” – Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gabels

Hello friends! Happy October! I’m not even going to talk about how fast September went by. Instead I’m going to focus on October. I really enjoy this month, it’s when the leaves really change here, we get some of my favorite weather and I’ve learned to love Halloween more now that Ollie is old enough to enjoy it. I think it’s going to be a good month. Today I’m going to look at my goals from September and how I did and share my goals and mantras for October. I’m hosting this link up with my Peaceful Posse sistas, Charlotte and Lindsay. Join us if you have a goal post for the month! Anyway, let’s look back at September.

September Goals

~Clean up the basement I’ll give this a check mark, we have a little more tidying up to do, but we got rid of a sewing machine, put away Nate’s drums and overall it’s in pretty good shape.

~Finish kegging the beersDONE! We have five beers ready to go. I’m getting so excited for our party this weekend.

~Get organized for the JBF saleYES! I did so well with my little tagging gun. I’ll never do it any other way.

~Start getting ready for the Collective Market saleYes, although I’m going to take some things to Style Encore first and if that goes well I may pull out of the Collective Market sale. It’s kind of close to Oktoberfest and I didn’t realize that when I signed up.

~Visit the apple orchard – Nope. I’m sad about this, we had weather woes and headcolds and it just didn’t work out yet. We still have time to make this happen though before Fall is over.

~Pass my Wellness test at work to earn extra days offYES. But, it was a close one. More thoughts will be in this month’s goals.

~Get back on track with my 100 Dreams ProjectYes! I got another post up, so I call this a win.

I think I did pretty well on my goals for this last month. I think it helps that I set myself up for success and didn’t choose anything that was too much to handle. Now on to the goals for October.

October Goals

~Workout three days a week

~Strength train five days a week

~Go to the pumpkin patch

~Figure out and make Ollie’s Halloween costume

~Go to the apple orchard

~Make some Fall crafts with Ollie

~Bake some Fall themed goodies

~Go on a date with Nate

So, I’m really going to be focusing on getting back into shape this month. My wellness test at work was a bit of a wake up call that I’m not taking care of myself physically as well as I can. My word of the year is “nourish” and I’ve really been focusing on my mental health as part of that. I’m doing well with my mental well being, so it’s time to focus a little more on nourishing my physical self. I’ve started a “tabata” routine, a ten minute set of exercises where you work hard for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. Also, Nate’s been doing some light weight lifting, so I’ve joined him and have been doing that with him as well. I’m not looking to lose a ton of weight, I’m almost 37 and this is my body and I accept it, but I can still take better care of it.

My other goals are just to have some Fall fun! We were so consumed with getting ready for our Oktoberfest and then as I said, headcolds and weather got in the way a bit of us doing a lot in September for fun, that we just really need to step it up this month. Nate and I also didn’t get a date night in September, so we’re committed to scheduling one this month. So anyway, my mantras this month will be focused on getting my booty in gear so to speak with working out and also to try to have more fun!

Let’s make it a great month everyone! Feel free to link any goal posts up with us below!

  1. I think you did an awesome job on your goals for the month of September! I love your goals for the month of October, and I know you will be successful at them! I also like your mantras!

  2. Great job on your goals from last month! It’s easy to make a goal to take care of your health, but not always easy to do the work every day, so I’m proud of you for committing to make that happen this month. Plus, it’s nice to have a workout partner like a hubby to keep you motivated. I definitely need a workout partner to kick my butt every morning! 🙂

  3. You did great with your goals and I love that you’re making your October goals all about fitness. As you might have read, I finished a twenty day challenge myself last month and now I am set to continue on this path! Tell me more about this wellness exam at work.

  4. You did awesome in September! It really did fly by. I’m looking forward to this month too. I’ve been working out, but need to work on eating healthier. I just want to feel better too, not worry about the number on the scale. I’m in the middle of tagging for our Twins’ club rummage, and I wish I had a price gun! But, we are supposed to use safety pins anyways 🙂 Best of luck this October! Hope all the colds stay away and you guys stay healthy!

  5. We cleaned our basement this weekend and it feels SO GOOD to have it clean again. We have a weekend where you can bring things to the dump for free so I convinced Matt to get rid of a ton of his junk. I’m so excited about this.

  6. I’m so with you on needing to focus more on being healthy this month, which is kind of funny since it’s the start of the food season, as I like to say. I’m yo-yoing with my weight right now and while I DO want to lose weight, it’s also just about being healthy and feeling better. I hope you can fit in tons of fun this month as well. I have a lot of things in my planner so I hope it all works out.

  7. I think you kicked September’s butt!! Nice going. Especially with colds… I hate that part of fall. I hear you on putting your physical health on the back burner. I also have done a great job of taking care of myself emotionally/mentally but physically… I don’t make it a priority at all. Other than taking a walking break at work, I do nothing. I’d also really like to get into some better health habits. (The ironic thing is that I work for a wellness company for crying out loud!)

  8. Oh hells yes! You can do this! Impressive goals – did I count 8 workouts a week?!?! But don’t forget that workouts should be fun so be sure to try lots of things! And get Ollie involved. Probably not best for tabata themed workouts but my favourite workouts are the ones that C is by my side. My October goal is to get in a playground workout (C plays while I use benches, monkey bars, etc to get in a workout).

  9. Those quotes are awesome!
I think I read that you got extra leave because your wellness day went well – congratulations!
You did so well in your September goals – well done.
All the best for October 🙂

  10. I love your goals for this month, Beth, and think it’s wonderful that you are putting your physical health first. I’ve let this slide and i realized that recently when I returned to the gym. Working out feels GOOD but I don’t always make it a priority in my life. Thanks for the reminder <3

And you did a great job in September! I'm hoping to clean and purge and sell and downsize a bit. You know we still have stuff in storage? It gives me a headache just thinking about it, but I'm hopeful that I can spend some time this month to kind of declutter and keep the stuff we truly need.

  11. Damn girl, you were productive as hell in September. I felt September was not at all productive but then again, it was busy, that’s all.
Good for you for getting back into workouts, both you and Nate. It certainly helps when your partner is on board and you can motivate eachother. 🙂

I love the “I’m working on myself, on for myself, by myself.” Simple but perfect. 🙂

Best wishes for a wonderful October my friend. XOX
