Coffee Chat 9.12.18

Let’s sit down and have some coffee together. It’s been awhile. I’ll also be linking up with my sweet Peaceful Posse friend Lecy, who inspired me to write posts like this in the first place, she is now hosting a monthly coffee chat link up!

Anyway, my cup is full and I’m ready to chat. Thank you for noticing my new pants. I went through my closet again with my mom over the weekend and realized I had very few pants for work that fit right now. I’m accepting my body as is and I’m cool with it, but it does mean I need to add a few more pants that fit back into my wardrobe because it will be too cold for skirts and dresses pretty soon. Don’t roll your eyes, winter is coming. This is Minnesota after all. Anyway, back to my new pants. I hit up the thrift store first looking for something and did find one pair, but man was it slim pickings. I loved my secondhand summer challenge and I will continue to try hard to shop secondhand first, but I will be honest, old habits die hard. So I broke my secondhand shopping. I found these at Target. It’s the new Wild Fable brand. And I love them. I will continue to always check the thrift store first – but I think there will be some Target and maybe Old Navy shopping in my future too. I’m not perfect and that’s ok!

Speaking of things that are perfect though, I am loving my current haircut so much. I won’t say it is perfect, because nothing is, but this style has been so easy to work with and I’m having so much fun styling it. I haven’t loved my hair this much in I’m not sure how long. It just feels so nice!

Can you believe yesterday was 17 years since the 9/11 attacks? I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was in college and I was scrambling to change my class schedule because I was changing majors. Sometimes it blows my mind when I look at Ollie that he will never know what the world was like before that day. And I get sad sometimes when I think even more than that, his childhood will be different than mine because of lockdown drills at school thanks to so many shootings. But, when I look at him he also gives me hope. I believe his generation could change the world for the better.

Do you have fun plans this Fall? I have so many things I hope we get to do. Visiting the apple orchard, the pumpkin patch, and the MN Landscape Arboretum are high on my list right now. Ollie’s requesting a bonfire so I am hopeful the weather allows for that this weekend. And of course we have our big Oktoberfest in a few weeks, but I kind of want to go to one of the Oktoberfest events around town this year too. A lot of our favorite breweries are hosting little events and then there’s the big tent down at Gastof’s in NE Mpls. I’ve never been, but maybe this will be the year we actually go, you never know.

Well, my cup is just about empty, how about yours? I’m glad you were able to take some time out to chat with me! I’m already looking forward to next month for another coffee date or who knows, if I’m feeling spicy that day it might be drinks instead, ha!

  1. I love these posts! And your pants are too cute. I could really go for some new ones too. Old Navy has been pretty good to me in the last year when it comes to getting clothes, so I might need to do there soon. Target too though! I do love Target and I haven’t really taken the time in awhile to see what they have – mostly because I didn’t have the money. LOL

It’s crazy that it’s been 17 hears since 9/11. And it’s definitely strange that there are kids growing up who will never know what it was like. That’s definitely the pivotal moment in my life where people ask “where were you?” I really hope I don’t have another.

  2. I love this so much. I am reading all the coffee chats and I find them just so adorable.
I am so glad that you love your haircut. It is always good to change your hairstyle in order to be comfortable with it and loving your own style.
Ommmg. 17 years! It’s a day that will never ever be forgotten. Years later, people will still be talking about this dramatic change.

It is soo lovely to read this. Thank you!

  3. Your pants are adorable! I wasn’t able to link up today, but am planning on doing my coffee date post tomorrow. They are always so much fun to read! Also your ishts are adorable and I really need to go thrifting. I had a lunch meeting in the city earlier today, and realized I have one pair of work pants that look good but have put off shopping bc express, Macy’s, etc are always so $$.

It’s hard to believe 9/11 is so far in our rear view. I’m sad about the world we lost that day, but I have hope that younger generations can do something to instill hope and optimism, and continue to fight the good fight.

Alright momma, getting ready to hit the head but look forward to chatting soon! Xo

  4. You’ll have to teach me to thrift. I just can’t. I go in there and have a massive brain fart and lose my patience in the clothes and thennnnnn panic….can’t. I did find a kick ass vest in there once but that was because it was literally sitting right out in front. I also can’t do Winners or Khols. Shawn says it’s because I need things organized. PFT Whatever.
Fall plans…probably apple picking. Our kid ditched travel hockey so we have time to do things. Aqua Stretch starts, therapy starts again in London. I mean it’ll be busy but not.
Can we talk about your pants? LOVE! xoxox

  5. I love plaid pants! They are so fun. I know all about going through body changes and not fitting in things. I have to keep a few different sizes and rotate them as I need to. It’s crazy to think that 9/11 happened 17 years ago. It still seems like yesterday. I don’t have anything fall-ish planned yet, but I would like to go to pick out a few pumpkins. I went to my local orchard last week and got a half bushel of apples and several big chrysanthemums that are so pretty. I’m happy you were able to join the coffee date this month! Hope to see you again next time! <3

  6. Those pants are so fun. Ugh, pants are hard to shop for though. I applaud you for looking at the thrift store first but totally don’t blame you for buying new. Pants are hard. I was also in college when 9/11 happened and I will never forget it. I can’t believe it’s been 17 years. I’m also loving your hair right now Beth!! It’s so fun and funky.

  7. Love your pants! I used to be huge into plaid pants! 🙂

I can’t believe 9/11 was 17 (!) years ago… did you know I arrived in California on 9/9/2001, two days before this all went down. It was scary to be so far away from home, although I felt safe because I was on the other side of the country and still felt very much like a foreigner.
