Currently in June

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so that means it’s time for Currently with Anne of In Residence and her co-host this month, Sarah from Total Basset Case. I always love these monthly prompts to check in on what’s new! Here’s the latest in our world!

~Currently I Am~

Traveling – To St. Louis, Missouri to visit Nate’s grandmother. We’re leaving this weekend and I’m looking forward to it! Huge thanks to Penny from Penny’s Passion who gave me a list of suggested places to eat, we’re hoping to try some new stuff this time while we’re there and out seeing the sights!

Grilling – Brats. We have a ton of brats from the giant pig we split with Nate’s family so we’re trying to eat them all up.

Exploring – New and different beers. I get bored drinking the same stuff all the time. Jen told me about Short Pants from Bauhaus Brewing and when I saw it was a lemon shandy my interest was piqued. I usually drink pale ales and IPA’s but I do like a good summer shandy. I tried this one and fell in love. Sorry Leinenkugel, all my summer love is going to Bauhaus this year!

Planting – All the veggies! We just added some lettuce to our mix last week. We’ll also have radishes, carrots, peppers, beans, corn, tomatoes and summer squash if all goes to plan!

Playing – Ollie is obsessed with playing mail delivery right now. Or sometimes he is the UPS guy bringing Amazon packages. It’s actually rather cute. If I can keep him interested in it enough for the next few months I just might have a Halloween costume idea for him for this year.

So that’s the latest! I’m pretty much in vacation brain already and I still have lots to do before we go. But there are 24 useful hours in every day, so I’m pretty sure I’ll get it all done! Be sure to check out all the other Currently posts over at In Residence!

  3. so cool that you are growing so many veggies! we are living with the in-laws right now but as soon as we get our own house again we are wanting to plant a garden and have fresh veggies too!!

  4. That’s awesome Penny gave you some useful suggestions on places to eat–I always plan my trips (and days, really…) around what’s going in my piehole. Is that weird? LOL

Also I love that you’re planting radishes and carrots and lettuce and ALL THE VEGGIES! Dang. I can’t WAIT to have a garden of my own! Awww, love that Ollie is playing mail delivery. Kids and their imaginations–it’s such a special thing, isn’t it?

  5. It is always great to get restaurant recommendations when travelling – a friend of mine at work recommended a restaurant (when hubby and I were going to Wilderness a while ago). Years later we still go to this place because their food is just amazing.
Hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy visiting Nate’s Gran.

  6. Brats and beers… The perfect summer feast! What a green thumb you have! And the UPS man has me cracking up. What a great idea for a costume
