Humpday Confessions 1.31.18

Welcome to another round of Humpday Confessions. Or, as I like to think of it, my check in with you all that keeps me humble and shows the world that I’m not perfect. It always feels good getting stuff off the ole chest! So let’s just dive right on it. Here are my latest confessions.

I have tried so hard, but I just cannot embrace the Kindle. And yes, this is after I talked about how I downloaded the app to be able to check out books from the library but in the end I am just not loving reading books on it. I want the physical book. I want to be able to physically see my progress instead of a little bar telling me I’ve read 50% or whatever. And remember to charge it up. I’m just done. Give me a physical book. Sorry Kindle lovers.

I have tried and failed to find a light, fluffy, girly show to watch the nights Nate is taking his woodworking class. I have started two shows now that he’s ended up interested in, so then I have to wait to watch them with him. So hit me with your binge worthy shows that are available on Netflix or Amazon.

There are tons of Super Bowl festivities going on in my city that sound so fun and so neat, I’ve seen lots of pictures from friends who have gone and checked them out – but I want to stay far, far away from it all. The idea of being one with the crowds makes me want to hyperventilate.

I’ve spent way too much time watching hair tutorial videos on styling pixie hair on YouTube lately. And yet I pretty much just style my hair the same just about every day. Brave and bold I am not.

I forgot my library card at home yesterday, so when Ollie and I were at the library I just paid for a new one. Supporting my local library one dollar at a time!

People at my work have been sick and I just want to build a bubble around my cube and never come out. Stay away from me you sickies!

I am finally getting to the I’m so old I don’t recognize half of the Grammy performers/winners/nominees point in my life.

Ollie might actually be better at some of my iPhone games than I am. And oh yeah, I let him play iPhone games.

I bought a purse off of Poshmark on a day I felt I needed some retail therapy because I thought it would look nice with my winter coat. And it totally does and it fits all my stuff. But it doesn’t stay on my shoulder. Deal breaker. Sorry purse, we had a nice brief love affair, but I think you’re going to Style Encore. And I’m sure I’ll find another one. Or turn around and spend my earnings on something else.

Phew. Ok there we go. As usual I know it’s all so scandalous. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Feel free to share in the comments!

  1. I totally get how you feel about the Kindle. I prefer physical books too, although I usually do read on it in the mornings so I don’t have to turn my reading lamp on since Aaron is still sleeping. But still, it’s not the same. I’m the same way with hair too. When mine was long I pinned all these awesome hairstyles… and then never tried any of them. 🙂

  2. I had that same thought watching the Grammys. Who are these people?! I’m old! Ha!! One of my old coworkers actually sang backup with Sam Smith which was an incredible performance. And KESHA!!!! 😮

Yay to supporting local libraries!! I’ve been doing a combo of Kindle and physical book reading and I like both for different reasons. Kindle is great for vacations bc you can load all the books you want in one light place but nothing beats a book in hands 🙂

    Xoxo

  3. I was reluctant to use an eReader for a long time, but since I never have time to go to the library to get physical books (and then the ones I want are never there), I have totally embraced the eReader as an alternative to physical books. It’s just convenient and it can’t be beat when you travel.

I was sick once this winter and I don’t want a repeat, so I am with you – stay away sickies!

  4. Ugh I just found out yesterday that a coworker I was chatting closely with on Friday was diagnosed with the flu so now I’m popping Airborne like an addict. Whyyyy do people come into the office when they’re sick?! We have paid sick time! I don’t get it! As for TV, have you watched Friday Night Lights? I loved that show. I’m currently binging on the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice. And I’m with you- while I enjoy the energy of watching the Superbowl in a bar, I no longer can deal with the crowds. That’s why I’m hosting my own little party!

  5. I am incredibly picky about my purses like that, too. Like they need to have the perfect shoulder length or deal breaker- I so agree! My mom just gave me her kindle password and I have been taking advantage of all of her free books, it’s awesome. I go on waves with reading and right now I am on a reading kick- I am currently reading “The Marriage Pact,” which I can’t put down!

  6. I work at a community college so yeah, sickness all around! I really hope I don’t get anything too crazy. I already had some sort of weird 24 hour stomach bug a couple weeks ago that was NOT fun.

I feel like I recognize MOST of the names at the Grammy’s but I don’t know all of their music. It’s interesting to see who gets nominated for these things though, because it’s not always the things you hear the most on the radio etc.

Oh gosh, I don’t know about a really girly show you could watch! I’m so bad with TV and shows. Hmm….I hear The Bold Type is good. That’s on Freeform; I don’t know about anywhere else. I’ve never seen it, but it seems like a good girl show.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite that I love because some books are just way cheaper as an e-book and it lights up so I can read in the dark! But yeah, physical books will always be my number 1 love. 🙂

  7. I feel the same about e-books. I like that they are cheaper, so that I don’t have to pay $18 for a hardcover. BUT, I often struggle to get through it or even “remember” to read it, if that makes sense, because it just looks like a tablet and not a book to my brain. 🙂

  8. I feel ereaders have very specific purposes: long trips with luggage weight limits, nights spent at in-laws in a too small bed with too many offspring ending up in it resulting in not being able to sleep and unable to move your arm, standing room only bus rides home from work and when you need a book RIGHT NOW and your library doesn’t have a physical copy or isn’t open at 1 am.

New Girl. A friend strongly recommends The Crown. Life in Pieces?

Sarah_louwho on instagram has videos that make me miss my pixie.

And my confession? I’ve been working out 5 days a week at 5:45 AND doing bootcamp Thursday nights. Ya I want my pants to fit again. But mostly because I want to eat everything AND have my pants fit. Totally a have my cake and eat it to situation. And damn it, I want some cake. Hell, I just want all the food.

  9. i wish i had the energy to go downtown and check out the super bowl stuff. I want to take all the cool pictures, but i just don’t have it in me to deal with it all.

  10. Grace and Frankie is hilarious on Netflix. I feel you on the watching stuff together and needing your own guilty pleasure.

My confession this week is I keep telling people I am busy when I am not because I just want to come home and veg. I have been running around mad for weeks and just want to be in my house after work and not around society because they are all sick!!!

Great post – thanks for laugh.

  11. At our library you can show your DL instead of your card. I give them lots of money in overdue fees… Girl, I barely know anyone at the Grammys and I don’t even listen to their music! It’s just not my style.

  12. I love prefer physical books. There’s just something about actually holding a book in your hands and being able to turn the pages. I have so many ebooks that I haven’t read and I think it’s mainly because I tend to forget that I even have them. What are some of your favorite shows on Netflix? I plan on finally subscribing soon and would love some recommendations.
