What's Up Weekend

What’s Up Weekend 8.25.17

Hello my loves! It’s Friday and it’s MN STATE FAIR DAY for me! Can you tell I’m excited?? I pre-wrote my What’s Up Weekend post to go live on time though, because even if the Fair is my Christmas, I can’t miss my weekly hosting duties with Charlotte and Lindsey! Here’s a look at what made me happy this week.

(1) Shopping at HyVee. I know this might sound silly to those who have always had HyVees but they’re new to Minnesota. We don’t have one in our neighborhood yet, but we drove to one about 20 minutes away the other night because I’m kind of sick of the grocery store that’s close to us. I just love how that store is laid out and I triple love the grab and go food options.

(2) New goodies from Thirty One. Let’s not talk about my purse addiction problem. Let’s just not. But I thought that maybe I’d retire my thrifted pink Kate Spade bag from my thrift appt earlier this summer and go with something more Fall colored. Enter the City Chic Tote from the new catalog. In a lovely dark teal color, comfortable to carry, fits all my stuff and is like a perfect size. I also picked up the special for the month, an ergonomic backpack. I’m wearing it to the Fair today. I can’t quit my Thirty One love no matter how much I try.

(3) Finding a new to us food truck we like. We stopped at a taproom last weekend (as we often do) and there was an Italian food truck we’d never heard of before. They served the most amazing sandwiches. NOM.

(4) Fall like weather. I haven’t been wanting to let go of summer quite yet but I seriously love the cool weather we’ve had lately. Sleeping with the windows open is my favorite.

(5) Brunch and good conversation with my book club ladies at one of my favorite spots. I love my book club so dang much.

(6) Three year old mood swings. The other day after we got home from work Ollie was a little grumpy and said he “was mad at me and didn’t want to see me right now.” So I said ok fine, you can go play in your room if you want. Then he says “Mama will you come play with me? I like you now!” Kids. He frustrates me, but makes me laugh from one second to the next.

(7) Nate finished getting the decking installed on the deck! It looks fantastic. He’s considering fixing some other parts of it as well, but the decking itself is installed and wonderful.

(8) We’re finally getting a good bounty of food from our garden. Tomatoes, green beans, onions and peppers were finally ready this week!

(9) I had a little jewelry party (KEEP Collective) Wednesday night, it was a small crowd but some of my closest friends came over and it was nice to have a little ladies night without leaving my house!

If you follow my Facebook page I might do a Facebook live from the Fair, how very exciting. Otherwise tune in here for my recap on Monday! Have a wonderful weekend! Make sure to give some love to Charlotte and Lindsey and feel free to link up your own What’s Up Weekend post below!

  1. My husband is headed to MN for a work trip and they will be going to the fair this weekend. How fun! It’s hard coming from Dallas because the Texas state fair is incredibly huge, but he’s excited. It sounds like you have had a great week. Have so much fun!

  2. What is up with this fall weather. Gross. It’s summer man.
That is a lovely handbag. Someone was asking on facebook if they knew of anyone who was a Thirty one dealer and I had no idea what that even meant. I had to google it. I hope they don’t add me in their group because I’m in like 500 makeup and leggings groups OMG. Stop. it.
I won’t lie, 3 year olds were worse than 2 year olds. It was the worst year for us. That attitude…..girlllllll.
    Good luck.

  3. Have a great time at the state fair! Take lots of pics and I can’t wait to hear about it 🙂

LOL Ollie is friggin hilarious. I love that he’s like, “you’re cool now, mom. Let’s play!”

Uhm, hi. My name is Charlotte, and I also have a handbag obsession. I LOVE YOUR NEW FALL PURSE!

  4. Your new purse is so cute! I have a new purse in a very similar color and I am in LOVE! Also I am loving the fall like weather because its just perfect outside. I don’t want summer to go, but I haven’t missed the muggy mess its been this year. Have fun at the fair!

  5. I am so ready for Fall. The weather has been a bit cooler and hopefully it stays that way. Love your new purse. There’s an event called Food Truck Tuesdays in the city where I live and you just reminded me that I should go visit. I have been wanting to try some new food trucks.

  6. I’m going to miss my pool being open, but I DO love the fall and the weather so I’m ready. Yay for State Fair day. I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

Love the new purse – such a cute color.

  7. I hope you’re having a wonderful time at the fair Beth! I can totally relate to the mood swings–“I like you now”–that cracked me up! Jona will be like that too; he’ll be yelling and screaming and then out of the blue he’ll go “I’m happy now”. Okay, crazy one. 🙂 Love the new bag too, that color is one of my favorites!

  8. I feel like Thirty One must’ve changed their game since the last time I checked them out! I have been loving this cooler weather too, I love the fall but maybe that end of summer stretch is giving fall a run for it’s money for title of my favorite. 🙂 I hope you had a great time at the fair today!! Sounds like a great way to spend a Friday!

  9. They’re just starting to do the food truck thing around here – it should be kind of neat to try out.
Love that fall is near – however, our window is at the same level as our bed, so we have a parade of cats in & out all night when it’s open! So we get stomped on a lot.

  10. Let’s hope my drama queen is as quick with the love when she is in the throes of three-dom.
I love how similar we can be and them how drastically different. I got a new purse this summer. First one in years. Maybe once I’m out of the diaper bag phase, I’ll start getting bored of the two that I go between?

    1. If anything I must say it’s good for a laugh when Ollie is like that!
I want to be more like you. I’m trying to change my purse less frequently. I carried my thrifted bag from June pretty much all summer. I’m going with the less is more approach to life. Or trying at the very least!

  11. Hey Momma,
Guess who? The late straggler. LOL. How are you my dear? Sounds like you had another great one in the books. Can you believe that tomorrow is the last day of August!? Holy crap, man.
I LOVE your new purse. It’s big and the colour is awesome. 🙂
Your deck looks great and I’m insanely jealous of your garden haul. One thing that sucks about living in a condo is not being able to do those kinds of things. Oh well, someday.

Off to read your state fair recap. 🙂 Happy Wednesday love! xo
