Thinking Out Loud – Random Thoughts

It’s Thinking Out Loud Thursday and today I have nothing specific I’m thinking about so it’s time for…dun dun dun…RANDOM THOUGHTS! Hold on to your hats, it’s time for a stream of consciousness from my brain and that can be a scary place, ha!

My cat has acne. It’s likely from her food dishes, we’re probably not getting them clean enough, but the vet has told us before that she could also have stress. She’s a CAT. She sleeps all day and eats. What the hell could she be stressed about?

It suddenly feels like the summer is on overdrive. August starts next week. I love Fall and I ‘m super excited for some Fall plans I have, but I don’t want to let go of summer quite yet. So if someone could slow that clock down, that’d be great.

Ollie is obsessed with the Wiggles right now. We found some CDs at the library and I’m shocked that I’m not actually that annoyed by them. Their music is kind of fun. I just became that parent.

Actually it could be that I’m just in a music rut in general lately. I am so sick of everything on the radio. I pulled out some old CDs of mine from the late 90’s/early 00’s and threw them in the car and my inner angsty teen has been loving this week. Incubus at full volume? Heck yeah.

All Pints North is this weekend and we’re not going. It’s the first year we’re missing in several, but I’m not terribly sad about it. We’ll be in Duluth for Thomas and Friends soon enough and I’m guessing we just might have time to grab a beer at one of our favorite spots up there. I also have plans to return to Duluth this fall as well, so I’ll get lots of time in one of my favorite MN cities. Itasca and Duluth are pretty much my favorite places on Earth.

While we are skipping All Pints, we are not skipping Crayfest at Smack Shack. That’s coming up in about a week and I’m pretty pumped for it. I just hope we have better weather this year. Last year it threatened rain all day. I should probably dust off my Crab hat!

Ollie’s imagination continues to make me smile. He’s been telling us all about how when he’s bigger he’s going to sing songs from church at a concert on a stage. And drive his own car. And sleep in a queen sized bed. Great dreams my boy. Don’t stop dreaming.

So that’s what I’m thinking about right now! What’s on your mind right now? Also, please check out the lastest post at Coach Daddy , I’ve got a blurb in Eli’s latest 6 Words post, this time about describe your greatest adventure in 6 words. Hint: mine is about parenthood.

  1. I’m kind of bummed that we aren’t going to All Pints Northis year. Even more sad we aren’t going up North at all this year that I know of. I love Ollie’s imagination!! He’s so creative!!

  2. I like this post. It gives us an opportunity to get to know you better. I have to say I had no idea cats could get acne. Poor thing.

  3. How do you know your cat has acne?! That’s so weird! What’s Crayfest? I’m with you on the music rut, and I always turn to 90’s/early 00’s tunes to get me out of a funk! I actually had tickets to see Incubus in concert last week, but it got rained out! I was so upset!

    1. It’s around her face, she has very white fur and these little blackheads appear. It is weird! Crayfest is a crawfish festival with all you can eat crawfish boil and local beers and live music. So much fun!

  4. I have to say I’ve never heard of a cat having acne, poor thing! And I totally agree about summer–it is going WAY too fast. Ack! Ollie’s dreams are adorable too 🙂

  5. I don’t think I knew that cats could have acne either. I love that pic of you both–so precious and hope poor kitty feels better soon!!

I’ve been in a bit of a musical rut lately too…we should go back to sharing songs on the group maybe…

Love Ollie pics 🙂 hope you have a great time this weekend!

  6. I had no idea that cats can have acne. I hope your cat feels better soon. It’s been so hot and humid. I am so ready for Fall. I hope you have a great weekend.

  7. I’m glad Ollie is able to differentiate between “now” and “later” when planning his life. We had told Charlotte about heaven and how her great-grandpa was there now, and how that’s where people go when they die, and some day she could see him there when she dies. An hour later, we had to go to the mall to pick something up and she skipped out to the car singing “I’m going to heaven, I’m going to heaven”. Having a queen sized bed is much more reasonable!

    1. That is kind of cute though, at least she isn’t afraid of the idea of heaven or something. I remember when Nate’s grandma died last year and we weren’t sure how Ollie would do and when we saw her at the mortuary Ollie simply said “she’s on vacation!” Which made everyone laugh and smile. Kids.
