What’s Up Weekend 7.7.17

You know what’s awesome about short weeks? Friday comes quickly! I’m keeping my usual Friday tradition and linking up for What’s Up Weekend with the Peaceful Posse. Here’s a look at my happy/things I’m grateful for this week.

(1) Coaxing Ollie to try out some rides at Como Town. He really didn’t want to, but once I got him on things like the cars and train, he was all smiles and loved it.

(2) Nate was home this week instead of on his work trip. Granted, he has to go on the trip this coming week now, but for now we are happy to have him home!

(3) Making cold press coffee at home. I haven’t done it yet this summer, but I finally made some to have today and it’s a nice Friday treat!

(4) Finding a game from my childhood to play with Ollie. I found a copy of a game called Ready Spaghetti while we were out and about earlier this week and I was so excited. We’ve played a few times and he seems to like it so far!

(5) Bocce ball shenanigans on the 4th of July. Every year we hold a bocce ball tournament at the picnic my parents have. Of the two games we played, my team won one and lost one. It’s a good time, we razz each other and don’t take it too seriously, although there is a little trophy my dad made last year (a block of wood, haha!) Can you spot the thing that doesn’t belong in the picture below?

(6) We found a twin size mattress for Ollie we like and we’ll be transitioning out of his toddler bed within the next few days. I know you might think Mama would be sad about this development, but it’s been overdue for awhile and now if I need to ever lay with him it’s going to be easier. I’m actually excited for this change!

(7) Completing another 5k on my challenge for the year. Jen and I have slowed down a little bit on our 5k goals, but managed to get up at the butt crack of dawn on the 4th of July and did the Red, White and Boom. We aren’t signed up for anymore until October, but hopefully we’ll find another one or two to squeeze in before then!

(8) Watching Ollie play disc golf. He wants to try and throw the way that Nate does and it’s freaking adorable to watch. We got him his own bag now and he loves carrying it around with him on the course.

(9) Flowers. The flowers that Nate and Ollie planted me for Mother’s Day are thriving and are looking great this year. I’m glad, early on we had a huge rain storm that seemed to waterlog them to a point I wasn’t sure they would bounce back from, but they did!

(10) Did I mention it’s already Friday? I love short weeks!

This weekend isn’t going to be too crazy as we really have nothing planned. I’m sure there will be some disc golfing and if all goes to plan we may go pick up Ollie’s new bed. We’ll take the days as they come, kind of the best way to do summer in my opinion! Have a great weekend!

  1. Awww love that Ollie tried out some of the rides and looks like he enjoyed them 🙂

Also love that you played bocce ball! Haven’t in ages but it’s such a fun summer game!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, momma! Xoxo

  2. OMG Ollie with his bag of disks!!! LOVE IT!!! Maybe next summer Bash & Dash would like to do that. We haven’t gone since before they were born!! LOL. This also reminds me we need to get over to Como Town this year, I have a card pre-loaded with points from last year!

  3. Congrats on the 5k! That’s so awesome.

That’s so cute that Ollie is enjoying playing disc golf. Love his little bag.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend with not much planned.

  4. I love showing my boys games that I used to play as a child. I also love reading them books from my childhood. Congrats on completing another 5k! I’m hoping to participate in a 5k soon. Have a great weekend.

  5. Congratulations on the 5K!!! I will be running one in August (it’s in the evening). Also, yea for cold pressed coffee at home. That is something I need to make.

  6. Ok I am a pretty sporty person, but what are Bocce Ball and disc golf? LOL I Have never heard of them. Red, White and Boom sounds like a fun 5k 🙂 Ollie is such a cutie! And yay for the big boy bed!!! Have a great weekend!

    1. Bocce ball can best be described as kind of like yard bowling. You roll balls at a target and see who can get closest. Disc golf is like regular golf with frisbees 🙂

  7. Oh man the twin bed transition was amazing for suddenly being able to lie down with the kid. Apparently we’ve been in a twin bed a year this month! It’s been what’s saved naps on days when she’s desperately needed one but refused. Like yesterday. It’s increased my likelihood of falling asleep with her but hey, if I’m that tired, maybe I need a nap too. We’ll probably transition M much later, since she sleeps with her bar against her crib rails, and her boots would likely destroy bare walls, but I’m already looking forward to using the bed transition as a good reason to redecorate. Hope it’s a smooth transition for Ollie, but if I remember, he is already sleeping in a twin at your parents so it should be fairly easy.

    1. You remember well! He has been in a twin bed at my parents. And the transition went great. He was more than ready and so was I.

  8. I hope the transition to the big bed is going well! That will be one milestone I don’t think I’ll be emotional about either! Jacob rolls right out of his toddler bed a decent amount, just thankfully usually doesn’t wake up for it and actually likes the floor strangely enough, so a bigger bed when we get to that time will hopefully just feel easier! 🙂

    1. It totally did. We still put up a guard rail and will probably leave it for awhile (he has hard wood floors) but overall the bed fits him SO much better!

  9. Congrats on the 5k girl, that’s awesome! So is encouraging your boy to try some rides and then he actually enjoyed them. 🙂 Hopefully this will open the door to more opportunities for him to try new things and see that although sometimes it might look scary, that’s it’s totally okay. He’s such a cutie pie.

How exciting Ollie is transitioning to a big boy bed. And handy for you to hang out or lay with him.

Have a lovely week, Beth. xoxox

  10. Oh my gosh how cute is Ollie with his little disc golf bag?! Also, good for you for getting up and RUNNING on the 4th! You are awesome. I recently made some cold brew coffee to have at home too, and it’s great. (A little too convenient though…yikes. Violet may be getting more than her usual amount of caffeine. Uh oh.)
