Currently in February

And one month of 2017 already down. I can’t believe it’s February. We’re one month closer to spring though! And because it isn’t just the first of the  month, but also the first Wednesday of the month, it’s time for a Currently post, hosted this month by Anne of In Residence and Erin from Teal and Polka Dots. Here are some Current happenings in our world!

Currently I Am:

Packing – Another bag of things to send to ThredUp. Seems like my body has changed a bit again and my style has changed a bit again and instead of holding onto things for that “someday maybe I’ll wear this” I’m just sending it on it’s way. I really want to have this be a year of less, so we’ll see how it goes!

Jonesing – For some really good ice cream. I know it’s the dead of winter. But I am just really in the mood for some good quality ice cream. I may need to make a trip to Izzy’s in either Mpls or St. Paul soon. I’m trying to convince my anti-sweets child that ice cream is good, so maybe he needs to come with me and do some sampling too!

Texting – My husband about travel plans for an upcoming family wedding in May. We have a free place to stay, but the getting there part is not going to be cheap. And driving 14+ hours with a three year old sounds about as much fun as giving birth again, so we really want to try to fly. Guess we’ll be staying home a lot over the next couple of months to watch our funds!

Reading – I’m in the middle of two books right now (told you I’m trying to read more!) – The Girl on the Train (late to the game as usual) and Bonk, The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex which is my book club book this month. Bonk is actually quite informative and I’m actually really looking forward to the conversations on this one!

Hearting – This kid. Always. Even if he’s in an extreme mama’s boy phase right now (to the point that no one else can do anything for him it seems, not even daddy) that borders on exhausting, I will never tire of hearing his little voice say “Mama I need you.” I need you too bud. I hope you never stop needing me.

That’s the scoop! Looking forward to a few different things this month, book club, my first 5k of the year, a super fun date night that Nate and I are going on at the end of the month (we get to try curling, so much excite!) and all the things around Valentine’s Day that are all about love. I think it will be a good month!

Be sure to check out Anne and Erin’s blogs for more Currently posts or to add your own!

  1. Sounds like a lot of fun things going on right now! I can’t wait to hear about the curling! Steve and I want to do that too. Let me know how you like the book, Girl on the Train.

  2. Both of those books sounds interesting! We had to fly to Michigan for wedding last year, and we flew Spirit. We flew from Philly to Detroit, and I know Spirit doesn’t fly to every city, but it was the cheapest by far and totally fine, so it might be worth a try to check it out!

  3. Ice cream sounds amazing!! They have this great spot in Indy but you have to wait outside to get the ice cream haha I feel like a weirdo in 20 degree weather waiting for ice cream but it is SO worth it!

  4. Haha, I love your description of driving that long with a three year old sounding about as fun as giving birth again because I totally agree!

  5. I read Girl on the Train pretty late too, but I finally read it before the movie came out so I could go and see it and know what’s happening. I found it easy to guess though, but obviously I’m in the minority, so I hope you loved it/are loving it!

Aw, your kid is anti-sweets? I guess that’s good in the long run, but sometimes you just want them to enjoy all the fun things! haha

  6. Ice cream sounds excellent right about now. I live about one minute from a Dairy Queen, which can be a very, very dangerous thing. 🙂 I haven’t read Girl on the Train either yet either, but I want to. I love to read, the trick is finding the time to read them. Thanks for linking up!

  7. Oh yes, you know I’m always craving some good ice cream! We’re actually planning to visit Minneapolis this summer so I may be asking you about places we need to visit–I’ll have to add that ice cream place to the list! And Bonk sounds interesting for sure. I’ll be curious to hear what you think about Girl on a Train!

  8. Why must everyone be talking about ice cream. It’s 5:30 am and I have a baby sleeping on me and I cannot stop craving ice cream! I think it may have to be a smoothie morning. Ice cream for breakfast sounds great to me, but I’m sure the toddler would insist on eating it too!
