Oliver is three! I can’t believe it. We had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday on Saturday. We headed down to Macy’s in Downtown Minneapolis to see the 8th Floor display and to visit Santa. I have honestly not seen that space so full and busy since I was a kid. Then again, it might have something to do with it being a Saturday, we’ve gone during the week the last few years. Or maybe it has to do with the news that Macy’s is closing, but at any rate, it was a lot of fun being there with the crowds, it almost made it more festive. Then we had lunch at his favorite place, Brasa. In the evening we had a little party with just the family and it was lovely. I decided to forgo a bigger type of birthday party this year because we’re going up to Duluth to see Bentleyville next weekend, so figured, save money where we can. And honestly, I think this might have been my favorite birthday of his so far and he certainly seemed to enjoy his day, so that made me super happy.

I did a birthday survey with him that I found online. I had him answer most of the questions himself and I really get a kick out of his answers. I thought I’d share them here and maybe you’ll get a chuckle as well.

  1. Yay! Bentleyville! are you going to the glensheen event saturday morning? Trying to convince myself I want to wake up at 5 am and drive up there.

  2. This is so adorable! The mind of a child is immensely amusing and you give us an entertaining peek into this one’s. BTW, I agree with him — Nate is our favorite animal!

  3. Can you tell I am trapped under a barely sleeping baby and going through the backlog of posts on my phone?

Happy belated birthday, Ollie! I too wouldn’t mind being a baby when I grow up. Someone feeds you (and only the best, most nutritious food). No one cares if you get your clothes dirty, as long as you’re cute! And you don’t have to do lists. You’re onto something, Ollie!
