Project Hair Grow – One Year Later

About a year ago I swore I was a short haired gal for life.  I was never breaking up with my pixie cut.  And then something shifted in my brain and suddenly I said, I’m tired of this hairstyle and I want to grow it out.  So I set out on a journey I dubbed “Project Hair Grow”.  When I started growing out my hair I didn’t really have a vision as to where it was going to end up. By the summer I found some pictures on Pinterest that I decided were kind of what I had in mind.  I will never be one for super long hair, so my ultimate goal has been a bit of a stacked bob.  I’m pretty close to where I want to be at this point.

It’s been a fun learning experience and not as frustrating as I thought it would be.  It helped that a large chunk of the time I was growing it out was in the summer when headbands are pretty much the name of the game. I did decide about halfway through to grow out my bangs as well, in the beginning I was keeping the bangs.  The bangs definitely slowed me down a bit, but thankfully they’re catching up quickly.  I also decided about halfway through this last year to stop going to the cheap hair place and re-embraced salon life and that has made a huge difference.  And finally, I added some color last month and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

It’s amazing to look back and see how far I’ve come – I can’t believe how short I used to keep my hair at this point!  I am guessing someday I’ll go back to the pixie look, but for now I’m going to enjoy this new style.

  1. I’ve always wanted a pixie cut and was so jealous of people who could pull them off. Sadly my curls would leave me looking like Justin Timberlake circa NSync days. But you look great in one and I have noticed that the transition from pixie to longer hair is going well for you!

  2. I loved your hair when it was a pixie cut (very cute on you). With that being said, I really LOVE your hair now. This style really looks so cute on you! I can’t believe what a change there has been in a year! 😘

  3. Aww yay look at how much it’s grown! I said the same thing when my hair was short–that I was a short haired gal for life. Now I like it long too (but I do think I’ll eventually go back to short). I love the length you have right now, it looks great!
