Ollie’s Birthday Party

We had Ollie’s birthday party over the weekend and I thought it would be fun to share a little picture recap.  I’m so happy with how his party turned out this year.  We chose to host it outside of our house and couldn’t have picked a better location.  We booked a party room at Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store in St. Paul.  They have several packages you can choose from, we chose the “Hungry Engineer’s” package.  It included pizza, cake and juice. It also included a goodie bag for each child to take home.  We had one private train table in our room as well, but it’s also right next to the area with all the other train tables so we could use those too.

The room is all set up when you come in and they put a cute sign on the door announcing the birthday.  You can also bring in outside food and non-alcoholic beverages.  We brought some sodas and chips and dips.  There was a nice table for us to put the gifts on as well.  And how adorable is this cake?  It was delicious too.

Ollie’s little friends had a blast, at least one of my girlfriends said her son wanted to move in to Choo Choo Bob’s and never leave.  The other nice part about Choo Choo Bob’s is that it isn’t that big of a place, so even if the kids venture out of the party room, they were never too far away that we couldn’t watch them.  Ollie also got a lot of nice gifts from everyone – we’re so very blessed to have extremely generous friends and family! Mama’s got some thank you notes to take care of this week!

I would totally do this again, yes it was not a cheap way to do his birthday, but fact that Choo Choo Bob’s takes care of literally everything from set up to clean up, was more than worth the price of admission in my opinion!  We just had to show up and party.  Our house is just not that large and it’s tough having a winter birthday.  Of course, it also helps that Ollie loves going to Choo Choo Bob’s.  It’s the perfect play space for this age, in fact there was another two year old birthday party going on in the other party room at the same time as ours! Overall it was a great afternoon and we’ll have wonderful memories of this birthday for quite some time to come!

  1. Wow. What a great store and if I had this option, I’d do it there as well. We’re getting ready to celebrate my son’s birthday and I rented a time slot at a local Little Gym. It’s kind of a bit of money, but I agree with you that it’s so nice having them take care of everything and no clean up. And I love that last picture of the three of you. Ollie has a great head of hair.

  2. Aww, happy birthday Ollie! That looks like such a fun place for a party. Jona is a big fan of all things choo choo train, so he would love it. And the fact that they take care of everything means that I would totally love it 🙂
