Stitch Fix September Box Review
Favorite time of the season – Stitch Fix review time! I received my box on Friday (and even did a Periscope of the live unboxing, crazy!) and now it’s time for me to share my goods and what I kept/sent back.
I will fully admit something – I’m horrible about surprises. So, as soon as I see that my Fix has shipped, I always log in and go to the checkout page to sneak peek at what I’m going to be receiving. And I will admit, when I saw the list, I was a bit nervous. And I think I had good reason to be, but I think I know why, as soon as I opened the note, I saw that my usual Stylist, Amanda, was on vacation this month. Her sub did a reasonably good job, but I can understand now why I was less than enthused with this Fix. On to the goods.
Skies Are Blue Sia Embroidery Peasant Top:
I love the embroidery detail in this top, it’s lovely. This is a unique piece and it’s lightweight and would transition well to Fall. In the end though, I just couldn’t see what I would wear this with so it ended up as a thumbs down. VERDICT – RETURNED
Creative Commune Glenlea V-Neck Blouse:
I loved the colors in this top, definitely are hues that I enjoy, but it was just way too flowy and thin and well, like a maternity top for me. So this was a no go as well. VERDICT – RETURNED
Collective Concepts Cerritos Tie Neck Blouse:
Again, love the colors and I will admit to being mildly surprised by this top, when I read in my sneak peek I was getting a tie neck blouse, I assumed it was going to be some horrible eighties style bow tie type thing. This is definitely not that at all. But, it just felt like a muumu on me, I didn’t like how long it was and again, just too flowy feeling. VERDICT-RETURNED
Market and Spruce Lauderdale Knit Cardigan:
I actually really did like this cardigan, it’s super soft, nice and lightweight for layering and it’s a great color that will go with a lot of things. And that’s the problem, I have a cardigan identical to this one in this exact color, so I couldn’t justify having two. VERDICT – RETURN
Margaret M Emer Jacquard Print High Waisted Cropped Pant:
Oh my God these pants. They are amazing. They pull on like leggings and are SO comfy and I didn’t want to take them off. However once again, super similar to another pair I already own and the price tag on these was definitely a bit on the stiff side and I just couldn’t justify it. Sad panda. VERDICT – RETURNED
Yes you read that right. I returned my entire box. This is a first. I have always found at least one thing worth keeping in each of my Fixes, so this was a bit of a heartbreak for me that I was sending everything back. I am certainly not blaming my substitute stylist, but I’m feeling she just didn’t quite understand my style preferences the way my normal gal does. I’m not breaking up with Stitch Fix even after one bad box, I went ahead and scheduled another one before Fall is over to give it another try. So, we’ll see if the next one is better! What do you think – did I make the right decision in sending everything back?
Awww, I'm sorry you didn't keep anything! I really like the first two tops, but I can understand why you returned them. It was so much fun to watch your Periscope – what a fun way to check out the goods!
Thanks! And thanks again for watching me on Periscope, I appreciated that!!
I also really liked the first 2 tops, but I completely understand why you returned them! I hope that your next box is better!
Yikes! That's my biggest fear about StitchFix – a bad box where nothing worked. I'm not a money hoarder but to me not getting that $20 dollars back would make me think of all the things I could've actually bought with it and enjoyed. Hopefully your normal stylist will have much better luck!
Thanks! I have only had this happen once so far, so one time out of I think seven or so boxes isn't too bad!
Aww, it’s too bad you returned the entire box. I really love the first two tops on you! Hopefully, your next box will be a better fit for you.
What a bummer but I totally agree with returning it all. I did like the 2nd top, but you’re right…those flowey ones can go “maternity” pretty easily. Hope the next one is better! 🙂
It just felt a little too much that way for me. I'm still excited for another box!
I think the first 2 tops are great on you, especially #2. The embroidered top would be great with skinny jeans and black booties for an edgier/boho style, and that 2nd one is so pretty! I could see it being great tucked into a pencil skirt with knee-high boots in the winter. And yes, I do love those pants! They look great on you, too bad about the price. On a side note, have you thought about changing your top size in your profile? I'm not sure if past items have been too big. Just a thought! Bummed that you didn't keep anything. I know a few Amandas, I wonder if one of them is your stylist!
Aww, thanks. I was torn on the first one for sure! My style is going to be changing with my new role at work so I may have to update my profile! And I did update my size, but it's possible I should go even one more lower! If you do know my Amanda, she's pretty amazing and I would love you to hug her for me!! Or maybe I need you styling for me 😉
Oh bummer! I think you did the right thing though–not worth keeping something (and paying way more than $20) that you don't need/want/love. I love the cardigan and pants, but if you already have similar items no need to spend the money. I hope you have better luck the next time. I haven't scheduled my next box yet–my wardrobe holes right now are pretty specific and even though I know we can ask for certain things I'd rather go try on a million jeans (one of my must-haves) than hope one option will work. So once I get a few of those filled I may have to try another fix. I love the surprise element and love not knowing what I'll get 🙂 I couldn't check before, that would kill me!! So funny 🙂
That's how I felt, I would have had some buyers remorse if I had kept a couple of things. I am sure that the next box will be better!
I didn't know you had a new blog! I must have missed that post about you moving over here so I just thought you weren't blogging for the summer, particularly as I hadn't seen you commenting at Ally's or anything! Sorry about that – I only noticed when I saw your comment at the Two Birds and clicked over to your link! Now I've followed you! This Stitch fix thing sounds a good idea- how does it work? Hope all's well with you, Nate and Oly!x
Hi darling! No worries, it went live over the summer! I haven't had a chance to comment as much as I'd like on anyone's blogs but I am reading and I am still here!! xo
Wow! Good for you for having the restraint to return those adorable pants and that great crocheted top!
It was SO hard to send them back, but I think it was the right choice for now!
I love the embroidered shirt, one part because it's gorgeous and one part because of your reasoning as to why you returned it. Smart decisions on your part.
Thanks! I am having a little regret of sending that one back, but I figured I was unlikely to actually wear it, so it was for the best!
